Let's take an example of a sample menu from a Burger Shop to try and understand the different components of a menu, how the menu reflects on an aggregator platform. You can then explore the different folders under Catalogue to better understand What, How and Impact of each of the different components of the menu.
The menu we're reviewing has the items: Garlic Bread, Crispy Chicken Burger, Butterscotch...etc, which have been categorized under different categories for better organisation of the menu; some of the items further have customizations to give options to customers to customize the item to suit them best.
Here's a flow chart showing the entire menu and the names of each component of the menu as they are reffered to in the Urbanpiper System:
Here's how the same menu would reflect on an external platform(in this case Zomato).
You can see listing of the menu, where you can see the different Parent Categories(Appetizers, Burgers and Dessert) , Sub-Categories(Veg Burger and Non-Veg Burger), and Items(Garlic Bread, Cheese Sticks, Aloo Tikki, Crispy Chicken, Butterscotch Mousse and Vanilla Mousse):
Some of the items have customizations. Clicking on the item Garlic Bread, gives you a pop up of options(both add on options), which if needed can be added. The item can still be added to the cart without choosing either of the 2 options.
Clicking on the item Aloo Tikki, gives a pop of 2 options(both variants of the item) either of which have to selected to add the item to the cart. Choosing neither will not allow you to proceed with adding the item to the cart.
The item Butterscotch Mousse can be directly added to the cart, since it does not have any customizations to choose from.
