Some of the items in the menu can have multiple options i.e, Variants or Add-Ons.

This article will provide a detailed walkthrough on how to create Variants or Add-Ons for an item.

  1. Creating Options:
To Create an Option go to Ordering → Options. Click on ADD OPTION.
    • Title: Enter the name of the option. (Ex: small, medium, large etc)
    • CRM title: This is a reference name for internal use. This title/name will not be visible on the aggregator.
    • Price: Enter the price of the item option (if applicable).
    •  Description: Enter the description of the option.
    •  Merchant ref id: Enter the POS ID for the particular option.
    •  Sort order: This field is used to define the sequence of an option within an option group. Depending on the sequence you add, the option will be visible in the order: 0,1,2,3...and so on.
    •  Food type: Select a food type from the dropdown (if applicable).
    •  Active: Checkmark if the option is active.

Hit the Save button once the above details have been entered.

  2. Creating Option Group:
To Create an Option Group go to Ordering → Option groups. Click on ADD OPTION GROUP.

In the New Item Option Group page, follow the pointers below.

    • Title: Enter the name of the option group. (Ex: Toppings, Size etc)
    • CRM title: This is a reference name for internal use. This name will not be visible on aggregators.
    • Description: Enter the description of the option group.
    • Min Options Selectable: The minimum number of options a user should be able to select for the particular option group. (Ex: For a pizza with the "option group" as Size, the "minimum options selectable" should be "1" as a pizza at least requires 1 Size to be selected).
    • Max Options Selectable: The maximum options a user should be able to select for the particular option group. (Ex: For a pizza with the "option group" as Size, the "maximum options selectable" should be "1" as a pizza at most can have only 1 Size).
    • Sort order: Here you can specify a number to the option group in which position it would appear while customizing an item
    • Is default?: Checkmark this box if the option group is a default group where all the options are selected by default (Ex: For a pizza, there can be an "option group" called "default toppings". In that case the  "Is default" checkbox can be toggled on which will result in the options getting selected by default when the order is placed). Note: The checkmark will result in the option group not being visible on the aggregator UI.
    •  Active: Checkmark if the option group is enabled.
    • Associating options with option groups: In the "OPTION ASSOCIATION" section, the desired option can be associated to the option group by double-clicking on it or clicking it once and then clicking the ">" button. The option will now appear on the right-hand column i.e. under Associated Options.

Once all the above details have been filled, hit the save button. Note: It is important to remember here that one option cannot be associated with two option groups.

  3. Associating an Item to an Option group:

In the "OPTION GROUP ASSOCIATION" section, the desired option group can be associated with the item by double-clicking on it or clicking it once and then clicking the ">" button. The option group will now appear on the right-hand column i.e. under Associated Option Groups. Hit save once this is done.

Nested Options:

Nested options can be created by associating a nested Option Group with an option. This can be done by going to the Nested Option Groups section in the option page. The desired nested option group can be associated with the option by double-clicking on it or clicking it once and then clicking the ">" button. The nested option group will now appear on the right-hand column i.e. under Nested Item Option Groups column. Hit save once this is done.

All the option groups and options which have been created can be checked and visualized by clicking on "Verify" under the "Ordering" section in quint. This will help in check if the options groups, options, nested option groups have been associated correctly or not.
