To create Categories, make sure there is a proper division of all items in your menu into suitable groups. Each of these groups will be created as a Category.
To create Categories, go to Ordering → Categories. Click on Add Category.
In the New Category page, follow the pointers below:
Name - Enter the name of the category that needs to be created.
Description - Enter the description of the category.
Sort Order - You can specify the number that will decide the sequence of the category. Depending on the sequence you add, the categories will be visible in the order on the aggregator UI (Example: 0,1,2..n). "0" will be given the highest priority the category and will appear on the top while the category with sort order "n" will appear at the bottom.
Parent Category - If the category being created is a sub-category choose the respective parent category from the drop-down list available. The parent category will also need to be created in a similar way before creating the sub-category.
Active - Enabling the flag would keep the category to be a part of the menu on the aggregator.
Timing Group - If a category in the menu is available only for a brief period of time like Breakfast or Lunch. This can be done by configuring a Timing Group (Reference Article: Timing Group) and selecting a suitable group from the drop-down.
Merchant Ref. Id - If the brand is integrated with a POS (Point of Sale), enter the category ID of this category created in the POS. If there is no POS integration, you can configure it as -1.
Item Association - Choose the items that belong to this category.
Sub-Categories - If the category being created is a parent category, then the sub-category association to a parent category can be executed in a similar way as done for the item association to a category.
Note: If a parent category has sub-categories, the items should be associated with only sub-categories and not the parent category.|
Once done, click Save.
The category will appear in the list view on the category page.
